Meet Mary, who completed our Supported Employment Practitioner Skills Bootcamp
Age 70

Mary said there had been quite a long break between starting the Skills Bootcamp and her last training course in 2007, so she was a bit nervous about how to put it all together when it came to the course assessments. However, the tutor was very supportive and in addition to this, the learning videos shared as part of the course were valuable. Mary was able to access these videos in her own time at home, and was supported by her employer to take time out at work to do this.
Mary said she is really proud to have undertaken the Skills Bootcamp, breaking down barriers regardless of age.
Mary is proud of the role she does at Eat That Frog, and proud of what they offer as a company. Mary has created new networking opportunities as part of this course; making contacts with Torbay Council and other companies.
Mary found that hearing other learners share their insights and skills with the group as part of the course, was really helpful.
Mary said that following the course, she now talks to more employers and this has generated new connections with partner agencies, who are coming into the workplace and delivering talks, to support collaborative working.

Mary adapted well to undertaking the course alongside balancing work and family life. Due to the programme’s flexibility and Mary’s dedication, she created time to focus on the course, as this was important to her . Mary also received excellent support from the course tutor (Deborah Carne) and her manager at Eat That Frog.
