    This Bootcamp programme has been designed to support adults into employment. There will be a focus on the development of practical skills in brickwork and blockwork. Alongside this, there will be the development of knowledge required to pass the CSCS test for construction operatives. To access the CSCS test, learners must achieve the Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

    In addition, learners will study information and communication content from the level 2 unit – Principles of Construction.

    Completion of this Skills Bootcamp is designed to lead into further training and employment as a bricklayer, carpenter, plaster, painter/decorator or in property maintenance.

    This Skills Bootcamp is designed for people looking to get into the construction industry by offering a blend of professional training on specific construction trades, as well as expert teaching on the required knowledge and behaviours needed to start working in the sector, including the underpinning health and safety and training towards completing a CSCS card, which is essential for working on a building site. This course will then provide a clear pathway to progress onto a range of construction courses or the opportunity to start work in the construction industry.

    The delivery of the course will be through a 1 day a week for 12 weeks. This will enable the delivery of all theoretical and practical elements in our industry standard construction faculty.

    The Skills Bootcamp in Entry to Electrical will provide entrants with an introduction to skills and knowledge across a range of Electrical Installation career options, this will include theory and practical elements.

    You will develop an introduction to the knowledge of:

    • Health and Safety within Electrical work, safe electrical working practices
    • Recognition of Electrical principles from generation, distribution and transmission through to end circuit installation practices.
    • Electrical design and practical installations across domestic, commercial, industrial, renewable and communications systems.
    • Verification by testing and inspection of installations of the safety to energise circuits, together with an understanding of fault finding.

    Through this training course, you will learn how to reduce the environmental impact of construction, whilst building your confidence in the requirement for traditional trades and skills, which continue to be fundamental to the industry.

    Training will be delivered through a blend of virtual and in person weekly masterclasses. These masterclasses will include site visits and online workshops across a 10-week programme or a fast track 6/8 week programme, depending on the commitment the individual is available to offer.

    Learners will be trained to identify and understand the benefits of different modern methods of construction (MMC) and offsite solutions. The training covers various areas within digital design, sustainable construction approaches, pre-manufactured value, and process engineering, as well as providing access to mentors within the industry.

    The course will cover:

    • How to improve air quality
    • Ways to be more energy efficient
    • Methods to reduce waste
    • Reducing the reliance on fossil fuels
    • Understand the benefits of different MMC categories

    Truro and Penwith College has collaborated with Kernow Health’s Primary Care Training Hub, Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, Health and Care Academy and the Independent Care Board to co-develop an innovative Skills Bootcamp covering core clinical skills and competencies for existing Health and Social Care sector employees who are looking to develop into clinical roles or educational pathways.

    Truro and Penwith College will be hosting a Taster Day for the Skills Bootcamp in Clinical Pathways to provide potential learners and their managers with an opportunity to meet with the tutors and gain a better understanding of the content.

    The Taster Day will also cover the study requirements, the benefits of becoming an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College and allow attendees to meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss their career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.

    The thirteen-week Skills Bootcamp will enable learners to access career progression, with previous Skills Bootcamp students moving into Senior Health Care or Clinical roles, or prepare them for an Apprenticeship or further study.

    This nine-week Skills Bootcamp for Future Chef Managers is ideal for chefs and professional kitchen employees who are looking to develop skills in leadership, people management, finance, HR and sustainability in order to progress into supervisory or Chef Manager roles within the Hospitality sector.
