    Through this training course, you will learn how to reduce the environmental impact of construction, whilst building your confidence in the requirement for traditional trades and skills, which continue to be fundamental to the industry.

    Training will be delivered through a blend of virtual and in person weekly masterclasses. These masterclasses will include site visits and online workshops across a 10-week programme or a fast track 6/8 week programme, depending on the commitment the individual is available to offer.

    Students will gain a range of practical skills for working on heritage properties, which will introduce them to a range of trade occupations within the Heritage Construction Industry. Curriculum emphasis will be tailored to the particular needs of each cohort, for example

    • Overview of conservation basics – damp, why traditional materials, breathability – focus on practicality and function of good traditional building skills and materials rather than delve into philosophy; why good for the building etc.

    The course is one day per week over 12-16 weeks with a coaching and mentoring session available on the same day to support your professional development.

    Induction, the first week of each module, and graduation week will be held on site at Exeter College.

    The second week of each module will be taught live online using the Microsoft Teams platform, with the option to attend in person if you prefer.

    During the coaching and mentoring sessions there will be progress reviews, an opportunity to further discuss the content of the programme, as well as focusing on Individual Professional Development, reflecting on skills development and individual target setting, and supporting those applying for a change of job role.

    During the course you will create an online portfolio of work to showcase your development.

    In the final week of the programme there will be interview preparation, final portfolio feedback, visiting speaker talks and graduation!

The Accountancy Skills Bootcamp is the perfect introduction for those wanting to understand their business’ finances better, those switching careers or getting started in the professional world, as the programme helps you to understand the fundamental principles and working practises of accountancy.

    A free in-person accounting course, the Bootcamp will give learners the ability to confidently understand the documents, terminology, and technical skills required by an accountant, with an end goal of increasing eligibility for career progression and/or educational opportunities – whether onto an Apprenticeship, into full time employment, or into a new role.

    The Accountancy Skills Bootcamp will enable you to learn the fundamental skills you will need to work in a finance related role, so you understand basic bookkeeping, fundamental accounting techniques, financial statements, and costing techniques. If you are looking to get a flavour of accountancy or just better understand finance in the workplace, this Bootcamp will provide a true introduction to the key concepts, accounting jargon, develop your confidence with business finance, take on a new finance role or enable you to progress onto one of our industry recognised learning programmes with CMI or AAT courses.

    The delivery of the course will be through a 1 day a week for 10 weeks.

    This innovative new Skills Bootcamp, which includes the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management, is for emerging professionals from any sector with high leadership potential and develops skills and understanding in self and sustainable leadership to facilitate progression

    On 16 July 2024 Truro and Penwith College will be hosting a Taster Day for the Skills Bootcamp programme for Future Leaders to provide an opportunity to meet with the tutors, take part in taster activities to get a better understanding of the content and study requirements of the full taught programme content, learn about the benefits of becoming an adult learner at Truro and Penwith College and meet with trained Guidance Officers to discuss career aspirations and any additional support or accessibility requirements.

    The thirteen-week Skills Bootcamp will then start on 4 September 2024 and learners will study a range of subjects that will enable aspiring leaders and managers to develop their career and prepare for progression onto further studies or an Apprenticeship.

    This Electric Vehicles Skills Bootcamp will provide the learners with awareness of working with electric vehicle and progress through to working safely when carrying out repairs.     Level 1 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Awareness – Week 1-3
    This part of the course is designed as an introduction to the knowledge of safe working practices, the dangers surrounding and the precautions required to avoid potential injury when near electric/hybrid vehicles.

    L2 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Routine Maintenance Activities –  Week 4-8

    The Skills Bootcamp will provide learners with the initial skills they may require in starting a career in the manufacturing sector.

    The first session will be based at Eaton aerospace in South Molton and will give learners the opportunity to have a tour around the manufacturing facility there and discuss the sector. The learners will be given an opportunity to ask any questions.

    Reading Engineering drawings – The learners will be taught how to understand first and third angle projection, how to interpret engineering drawings and the tolerancing systems associated with them.

    Using Measuring equipment – The learners will be able to effectively read and use external micrometer, bore micrometer, depth micrometer, vernier height gauges, use gauges to good effect and digital callipers.

    Using tools and equipment to produce and assemble a product by hand – this will be the key part of the tuition and will be split into manufacturing individual items using hand fitting techniques, to then assembling items that have been manufactured.

    Soldering – The learners will gain a basic understanding of the theory and practical skill associated with soldering.
