Troy has always been a self-starter, and after completing an apprenticeship in Data Science, working on ethical hacking in his spare time, and spending a year in South Korea working as a maths and computer science teaching assistant at a boarding school, Troy returned to the UK, keen to pursue a career in the technology sector.

I find technology fascinating and have gained experience by doing relevant courses, pursuing work experience opportunities, and practising tech skills in my spare time. After returning to the UK from a job in South Korea, I was looking for courses and work experience opportunities. I came across the Train4Tomorrow IT Readiness course with Bluescreen IT which offered me the chance to learn ITF+, A+, Network+ and Security+ for free!”

During the 11-week course Troy and his fellow students took part in online learning sessions which covered IT Fundamentals, Hardware and Operating Systems, Networking Engineering skills and IT Service Management.

Troy continued: “I really enjoy the challenge of problem-solving and the gratification when you solve the puzzle. The IT Readiness bootcamp prepared me with the skills needed to work in an IT role where I spend everyday working with clients on their IT.”

Blended with technical skills, the course also covered employability techniques. Workshops provided learners with confidence-boosting personal skills in areas including preparing for and handling interviews, career planning and presenting to ensure that learners were fully prepared to transition into an IT role.

Troy said: “Since completing the IT Readiness course I’ve landed my dream role at Timewade as a Technology Success Analyst. I feel really lucky to have a job where I wake up every morning and look forward to going to work, and am really grateful to Train4Tomorrow for the opportunity to develop IT Readiness skills.”

The technology sector is thriving in the South West and companies are hungry for people who want to learn and progress in their career.

Ben Pullen, Training Operations Coordinator at Bluescreen IT, said: “Troy has been a pleasure to have on the program, he has always worked hard to complete all of his courses on time and to the highest standard, he went above and beyond to get access to as much learning resource as possible to support his development, it is great to see him start at Timewade working in his dream job, we wish Troy the best in the future and look forward to seeing him develop his role over time.”
