The Skills Bootcamp in Early Years is an engaging and practical introduction to working with children from birth to five years old. It is designed for you if you are starting your journey in early childhood education. The course provides you with essential knowledge and skills to create safe, nurturing and stimulating environments for young learners.

Throughout the programme, you will explore child development and brain development, gaining insight into how children learn and grow during their formative years. Core topics include safeguarding, health, nutrition and well-being, as well as equality and diversity. You will learn how to support every child’s needs inclusively and responsibly.

The course also introduces you to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, practical strategies for observation and planning, and innovative approaches such as Forest School, which promotes outdoor learning and holistic development. You will examine the impact of adverse childhood experiences and trauma-informed practice, equipping you to respond sensitively and effectively to challenges that may affect a child’s well-being.

By the end of the programme, you will have a strong foundation in early years principles. You will be ready to progress into further qualifications or employment, for example the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship, in this rewarding sector.
