View detailsThe Skills Bootcamp in Early Years is an engaging and practical introduction to working with children from birth to five years old. It is designed for you if you are starting your journey in early childhood education. The course provides you with essential knowledge and skills to create safe, nurturing and stimulating environments for young learners.
Throughout the programme, you will explore child development and brain development, gaining insight into how children learn and grow during their formative years. Core topics include safeguarding, health, nutrition and well-being, as well as equality and diversity. You will learn how to support every child’s needs inclusively and responsibly.
The course also introduces you to the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, practical strategies for observation and planning, and innovative approaches such as Forest School, which promotes outdoor learning and holistic development. You will examine the impact of adverse childhood experiences and trauma-informed practice, equipping you to respond sensitively and effectively to challenges that may affect a child’s well-being.
By the end of the programme, you will have a strong foundation in early years principles. You will be ready to progress into further qualifications or employment, for example the Early Years Educator Apprenticeship, in this rewarding sector.

View detailsThis Inclusive Education Skills Bootcamp focuses on understanding how everyone can learn and succeed, regardless of their background or needs. You will explore how the brain develops and how this affects learning, as well as how childhood experiences shape development.
We will look at neurodiversity so you can understand different ways people think and learn, and discover strategies to support diverse students. You will also learn about important laws and the SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) system, including how EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) work to give students the help they need.
The Skills Bootcamp covers intervention strategies and Equality and Diversity, helping you see how educational settings create fair and supportive environments. You will also learn about ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and trauma-informed practice, why these are important and how they influence learning.
During this 10-week course, you will gain an introduction to Forest School and learn how outdoor experiences can boost confidence and wellbeing.

This comprehensive course is perfect for anyone looking to teach in the Further Education and Skills Sector, including:
- Aspiring teachers in FE colleges or adult education settings
- Workplace trainers who deliver in-house instruction
- Anyone seeking to gain a teaching qualification up to Level 3
This Skills Bootcamp is for individuals 19+ who are thinking about teaching in the post-16 education and training sector, or who already train/instruct others and wish to gain a qualification. L3 Award in education and training is an introductory teaching qualification. As this course leads to a qualification you will be asked to complete an initial skills check before enrolling on the course to make sure this is right for you.
This course will help you:
- Understand the teaching role and responsibilities in education and training
- Understand ways to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment
- Understand the relationships between teachers and other professionals in education and training Understand inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
- Understand ways to create an inclusive teaching and learning environment
- Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning
The classes take place online on Monday evenings. However, there is a mandatory face-to-face practical session in Exeter on Saturday 31st January. You will also need to complete, in your own time, 6 assignments and a guided reflective journal.

Over the course you will take part in fun learning sessions designed to provide you with an introduction to childcare and help you to understand more about how children learn and develop. You will spend one day a week on a placement with a local Nursery where you get the opportunity to test your practical skills and begin to form relationships with what will hopefully become the setting for your Level 3 Early Years Educator Accelerated Apprenticeship. You will also complete Pediatric First Aid certification, crucial for working within childcare.

- Introduction to childcare,
- Safeguarding and Health & Safety legislations and guidance,
- Supporting Equality Diversity and Inclusion,
- An introduction to theorists and philosophical approaches to how children learn and develop, and their influence on practice,
- Plus how to support children’s transition to school, including phonics – Letters and Sounds.
We offer you the opportunity to complete online courses to support your continuing professional development in Food Hygiene and Food Allergens. You will also complete certified Level 1 Makaton training. Enjoy personalised support and guidance throughout your course, ensuring you have all the resources and help you need to excel. We will also support by helping with CV-writing and mock-interviews to help you practice and prepare.
